exploring the sound of a wind chime

I went to my parents house to pick up some papers and then go by the atm, while there it was a little windy and i could hear a wind chime my mom had by the front door so i decided to pull out my little camera and record the video clip above to bring the sounds back and process.

Below is the outcome,

making generative drones using a accordion

I decided to pull out some stuff today and do a little more with my accordion, i setup my camera to record everything i did, no editing just push record and work, im really happy with the outcome of this ill post the audio when i have a minute.

exploring stone slate

My mom has this painted stone slate that hangs outside their garage, when its really windy it dings up against the brick and places nice little sounds, so today i decided to take it down and mess around with it a little.

Below is a video while i was recording what i planned to process,

Heres a little video i took while processing the sample of the slate,

Here is a audio version,

nnnl

With seeing the release of the new nanoloop app for iphone it inspired me to pull my dmg and gameboy version 1.3 out and mess around with it some more, i samples some stuff from it and put it into six generative chains in ableton.

hanging out and recording in clemson tonight

I went to clemson tonight to hangout with my friend wendy and hopefully go recording some, we never got around to recording but i happened to do some things while we were going around to different places.

We decided to make a run over to the radio station to get a cable but before that i setup a few chain generative setup and generated a piece called "cu".

Here is a higher quality audio version,

While we were leaving the radio station i started to tap this wooden hand rail which sounded really nice in the big open room so i decided to pull out my little camera.

Then after we made it back to her space downtown i heard noises coming from a door which i found out was the back door to a bars kitchen i decided to set my recorder by the opening and take a little sample.

Below is a picture and higher quality recording of the sounds.

nonn

Ive had the pleasure to make like minded friends on the net and not to long ago i met a guy whos work i really like, we have a lot of common interest and he also has a thing for documenting his work just like i do.

Anyway back to the point of this post, So Rick has this stonaphone that he plays in a lot of his videos and he produces such lovely tones on the thing so i decided to ask him to make some sounds in a video for me to mess with.

Here is a link to his youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/ReturnToSound

Below is the clip he made for me:

What i did was take the sounds and put them into ableton live, i placed the clip into three different chains running a generative process, two were a single chain of the same process just at different focal points and the other was different generative setup built in three parts.

Below is a little clip as i process the sounds.

Here is a full audio version of what i did with the sounds.

Flood Light Experiment

This is a flood light i picked up from work i really like it for the looks alone but it makes some really lovely tones, i decided to take it home and hook up my contact mic to it and tap on it some, I recorded the tones using my zoom h4 and then placed it into a generative chain inside ableton live to process it. Below is a video showing the bulb as well as the sound made from it.

Great Adaptations

I woke up this morning and wanted to work on some music so i decided to open up ableton and start to build chains and setup a bunch of returns, the sound source was coming from a vst called Circle and i was running to instances of that all going through the same returns and each sending midi back and forth to each other while running through a generative process. And below is the outcome.
